Silent Hills maybe dead but the team of Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima is looking to work on a new project. Maybe. Hopefully…..Please do!
According to an interview by IGN by famed director Guillermo del Toro, the man behind Hellboy, Pacific Rim and Pan’s Labyrinth, “I love working with Kojima-san. We are still in touch. We are still friends and working into doing something together, but that’s not going to be [Silent Hills].”
Silent Hills never got far past the conceptual stage, but del Toro said that if it had, he would have liked it to evoke memories of the infamous Psycho Mantis scene in Metal Gear Solid, where a character appears to read your mind but is actually just scanning your memory card. “The idea that a game can actually interact with you, and stuff like that,” del Toro said.
We all remember that Konami cancelled the supposed to be project of del Toro and Kojima – Silent Hills after the rumored dismissal of Hideo Kojima from the said company. There are also pictures of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain game cover that are circulating around that shows Konami removed the name of Hideo Kojima from the cover and his Kojima Productions team.
To be honest, I am not that affected with the cancellation of Silent Hills. Okay, curse if you want, but I am not really a fan of horror and suspense games, but imagining the fact that Guillermo del Toro and Hideo Kojima working together, ones of the best in their respective fields really makes me and everyone excited about this upcoming project that they are working.
