Microsoft is not the only one who had a great holiday season because a day after the computer technology company released their 2015 stats and numbers, Sony just announced that they sold 5.7 million units during the holiday season, that includes the Thanksgiving and Black Friday sale in the US up to Christmas and New Year worldwide. The impressive holiday sales puts PS4 to a very impressive 35.9 units sold worldwide since that day of its release 2 years ago.
It is not just about hardware sale but Sony also mentioned that they sold 35 millions game copies during the holiday season and that covers PS4, PS3 and PS Vita.
Playstation Plus sales also saw a big increase as subscribers rose 60% compared to last year.
“We are absolutely delighted that so many customers have selected PS4 as the best place to play throughout this holiday season and that the PS4 community is growing more than ever,” Sony Computer Entertainment president and CEO Andrew House said. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to deliver innovative entertainment experiences.”
House also added that Sony aims to deliver an “unprecedented games portfolio” to the PS4 in 2016 and these games include titles like Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, The Last Guardia, Street Fighter V, No Man’s Sky, Horizon: Zero Dawn, and Gran Turismo Sport plus the much awaited release of Playstation VR.
With this kind of momentum in favor of Sony, expect more sales coming this 2016.
