Hajime Tabata, Game Director of Final Fantasy XV confirmed during the panel of PAX Prime in Seattle that Final Fantasy XV will have a 2016 release window. Tabata said that he wants to clear the very vague statement he said during the Gamescom 2015 that the release will be before 2017 although, he also mentioned during the Gamescom that he will announce the release date on PAX Prime and as of this writing, no exact release date has been announced yet. The game however is still on track with the worldwide simultaneous release as announced before.
Square Enix also plans to have a “special event” on March 2016 and they will announce the release date of FF XV on that said event.
As for the game progress, Tabata said that there’s an improved progress in gameplay system and features like game cameras, AI behavior, monster, combat and user interface.
Tabata also gives and update when it comes to driving wherein player can explore Lucis in a car known as Regalia. Player will have an option to drive Regalia or be a passenger and enjoy the scenic view of Lucis. Players can also take off the car anytime and explore the map on foot. Tabata also said that Regalia, just like any other car can run out of gas but don’t worry, there are filling stations in the game.
Final Fantasy is set to release on PS4 and Xbox One.
