God of War III Remastered has already released exclusively for PS4 but despite it upgraded graphics and the game is already considered a masterpiece when it was first released in PS3, the remaster version didn’t get much attention, in terms of sales and reviews.
You can say that the reviews of this game is quite fair but if you will compare it to its original PS3 version’s reviews, the God of War III Remastered looks like the inferior entry between these two games. Maybe because of lack of features? Maybe because of the price? Or gamers don’t just want to play the exact game again, but we must all admit, God of War III is still brutal and fun game and in case you’re still skeptic in purchasing this game, here are our top 7 reasons to buy and play this game again.
Everytime a developer remaster a game, its main selling point is the graphics, and with God of War III Remastered having a1080p graphics and is running at 60fps, I think that this is a good reason to buy this game. Not just that, the game also has a good lighting and I love how detailed Kratos is in this game wherein you can feel his angst in his facial expression.
2. Hack-and-slash gameplay
I remember when PS4 was still in development, Sony hired Bungie to design DS4 to make it suitable for FPS players so expect that there will be tons of FPS games arriving for this system so every once in a while, it is nice to have a different type of gameplay outside FPS and typical RPG.
3. Greek Mythology
Zeus, Athena, Pandora, these are 3 of the most mention names in God of War III. Of course, other Greek Gods are included and all of them are familiar….if you’re a Greek or if you’re still a student but if you’re living outside Greece and not a student anymore, this is a good refresher on your Greek Mythology knowledge.
I remember when I first played this back in 2010, I always check the internet to refresh my memory on Greek Mythology and playing the whole series has taught me a lot of things about Greek Gods and Goddesses.
4. Maximizing DS4
One of my favourite features of the PS4 console is the DS4 controller. Compared to the controllers from PS1, PS2 and PS3 (which is similar expect for the wire), DS4 suits very well in my hand and features like the touchpad, Share button, speaker and light, I can say that this is one of the best controllers around, and with the type of combat God of War III has wherein you can use all the buttons, joysticks and even the touchpad for photo mode, God of War III Remastered has pushed DS4 to its full potential.
5. Head of Helios
With Kratos’ power, brutality and immortality, if you may add, it is quite fitting for him to have a bad ass weapons and accessories but seriously, head of Helios as a flashlight and weapon? Developers of this game surely added some humor in this game by making Kratos tear off the head of the personification of Sun in Greek Mythology and use it as the source of light in dark areas, reveal some secret passages and to stun enemies. Imagine, where the hell Kratos put the Helios’ head if he’s not using it?
There’s an old marketing saying/strategy “sex always sells” and showing off woman’s breasts in video game is not new in video games or in God of War series. It works pretty well in games like Dragon Age: Inquisition and Witcher 3, and even in TV series like Game of Thrones so this is a great compliment to all males out there. Of course, I am talking about Aphrodite’s and her slaves’ front asset here, not Gorgon’s.
7. This is your first time of play God of War III
This is definitely the best reason why you should buy God of War III Remastered – it is your first time to play this game and Sony’s reason behind game remasters is, and I quote President of Sony Worldwide Studio Shuhei Yoshida, “When we look at the number of people who did not own PS3, but do own PS4, those are people who have never tried these games that were very, very popular on PS3,” so if you’re part of the statistic, now is the best time for you to experience the final instalment of Kratos’ vengeance but just like what our review said, make sure that you already played the first two God of War games before you sink your teeth in the final installment for you to understand the story.
