Sony announced PS4 Pro during the Playstation Meeting and their main point of selling of this console is the 4K display, however, not everyone is buying into this, including The Witcher 3 developer CD Projekt Red.
“Since we want to fully focus on Cyberpunk 2077 and Gwent [standalone game], and converting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt from a full HD game into a 4K one [on console] would be too much of a time and resource-consuming process, we decided not to release an edition of Wild Hunt supporting the new features of PlayStation Pro,” according to CD Projekt Red.
The question is, Witcher 3 has a 4K version of it for PC gamers and how come they can’t make the same version for PS4 Pro?
Digital Foundry’s Tom Morgan told me it isn’t quite as simple as upping the resolution. “Showing everything at 4K resolution is one-half of the problem,” he said. “You need a good-looking world too, to hold up to scrutiny at 4K.”
So in a way, making another 4K resolution for PS4 Pro will take a lot of time, work and effort for the team, and they already mentioned that they are now focusing Cyberpunk 2077 even before PS4 Pro was announced.
