Few weeks ago, Sony confirmed that they secretly updated the PS4 system and put an emulation to be able to run PS2 games. Not just run in old school graphics, but run in 1080p. If the improved graphics is not enough, Sony also announced that the coming PS2 games on PS4 will be supported with trophies.
Today, during the day 1 of Playstation Experience in San Francisco, CA, Sony simultaneously released 8 PS2 games that are now available on PSN for download and they are:
- Dark Cloud — $14.99
- Grand Theft Auto III — $14.99
- Grand Theft Auto: Vice City — $14.99
- Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas — $14.99
- Rogue Galaxy — $14.99
- The Mark of Kri — $14.99
- Twisted Metal: Black — $9.99
- War of the Monsters — $9.99
Sony also released several videos of Rogue Galaxy’s gameplay to showcase how PS2 games run perfectly on 1080p on PS4 and they are not lying, the game runs smoothly on current gen system.
Yes, Rogue Galaxy is just 10 years old and it is part of the last wave of JRPG’s released on PS2 before shifting to PS3 but considering the fact that PS2 is an inferior system compared to PS4, Sony made a great job on making, not just Rogue Galaxy, but other PS2 games run flawlessly on PS4.
